Topic: 5 Spouted Vase phoenix & dragon design with mark

Hi
I have a 5 spouted vase in blue and white oriental design
dragon and Phoenix design back and front, this vase is flatish
with what looks like ears with earrings
I have attached a makers mark, it is the mark that I cannot find, can anyone help and also a confirmation of this items as well, i believe it is a vase or maybe a candle holder

Drawn a blank with the mark so far, but it is a tulip vase, in the style of early delft (late 17th/early 18thC). Tulips were so expensive that it was an expression of wealth to display them, and even better to display them in the finest porcelains available. Early examples can fetch tens of thousands of pounds.

Thank you for that, I certainly would not be that lucky to own one that was worth money.
but if you do come across the mark that would be great, i am still looking but it is difficult to discribe what it is.

Crikey, is that what it is! Now you've said I'm finding loads of examples but it's hard to search when you don't know what a thing is called! Thank you, I've learned something new today.

I also found a great site with loads of Dutch ceramics backstamps, but can't find this one there....  will keep looking.

..................................and silly question here, but is the mark here similar to the post of Chimpmad about KPM ( http://www.yobunny.com/pottery/index.php?topic=10839.msg30293;topicseen#new -- REPLY #10).  Click on the posted pix there, then Scroll to the very bottom where it shows a mark like this also -X---- which is sort of like the one here on the bottom of this post here.

Thank you for that I have printed off the marks list and yes it is similar except my mark has a line along the bottom so it looks like an upside down capitol T with a cross X near the top, but I would had loved it to had been meissens, especially an old one, it might had paid off my mortgage, but I can look a bit more into that one, you never know. it could be drinks on me if it was lol

The mark is similar to Clignancourt,France and represents a windmill.
Clignancourt made porcelain items and Delft is tin glazed pottery.

Thank you very much for that, I had almost given up with that one, the forum were being so helpful, but we could not quite come up with a name.
At least That is another avenue for me to look dowm.
