Can anyone help with this Fatty Lava'ery vase....

Hand thown and signed 'dirk staf' with a real FL glaze....my research has revealed Dirk may have been a Dutchman...thats all...

I can find some photos of his stylish studio and him potting in it and it looks like the 50's but the text is all....Dutch...and there's not much of it!

any help [as always] much appreciated.

Can you give a link to the text, Martyn? I can then tell you what it says.  ;)

Hi Della, here's one I spotted... http://www.qoop.nl/index.php?page=%2Fshowartikel.php%3FartikelID%253D4816262

I doubt it has any useful info but I do like the look of his studio that suggests he was making a good living from his pots at the time. There are others offering similar pictures on qoop.nl but I can only find cache reference to one 'vasen' on marktplaats.nl that no longer exists?

Hi Martyn,
They give absolutely no information away at all, other than that they are selling postcards. I have also searched all the sites (for Dutch potters) that I know and I can't find any information on the guy at all.
I have to go out now, but will carry on looking when I get back, later.

He is indeed a Dutch potter, born in 1921 and died in 1971. He worked in a small village in the north of the Netherlands, Havelte. Much of his work has nice lava glazes, mostly modest in colors. His work is signed in full, with his monogram DS or with a painted or incised staff (Staf means staff). Some examples of his work can be found here: http://www.artentique.nl/.

Hi robbum, and welcome to the board. Thanks for updating this for us, and for the link to more of his work. I do like the example you've shown above! Is the website yours or are you just linking?
Cheers!

Thats's good. Would you like to add it to our Pottery Links collection in whatever sections you think it will go?  http://www.yobunny.com/pottery/index.php?action=links;cat=14
Cheers!
