hello all
here's an unusual hare tureen that's been living in my cupboard for a while. Quite big - about 9/10 inches long, about same to top of ears. He comes in two pieces, is hollowed out in the middle, cream coloured pottery, decorated in brown/black with splashes of orange or rust colour. has got nice moulded fur as shown. highly glazed - pretty shiny, lead ? -on top of the colours. English probably. staffordshire ? inside top piece is all hollow and you can feel finger marks where the clay was pushed into the mould. Can't find anything quite like him despite trying. Quite a lot of animal type tureens from 19th century but they seem to be more colourful. Old, I think, but how old, and from where is my question ? Anybody spotted a hare like him anywhere ?
lots of luck
