I would think the 79 would mean the date. I will try to do some rooting around for some other info too. Others may know more than me.

Hi Kieran and welcome to the board. I think your vase is older than Rose suspects it to be. The backstamp appears to be the one in use up until 1922. This page shows the dateline of the backstamps:

. I think the 79 is the painter/paintress ID number, and the nos on the left of the mark will be a pattern code I suspect.
