Help ID my Vase, PLEASE!!!!
« on: February 27, 2009, 08:27:03 PM »

 Hi,

Am a newbie to the board so please be gentle with me!! I have a few bits I'd like to get ID's on and willupload over the next few days, but heres the first (sorry quality isn't good, taken on phone as cameras not working)

       TIA, John

p.s the mark could be read as either a U or an N either would be gothic (i Think!)

Hi

Don't recognise this one - there again I don't know who made 70% of the pots Ive got :-\
Hopefully someone out there may know just who it is and I'm sure they will let you know if they do. As I've learnt there are so many different potters out there often you may never find out who it is. Its a bit like paintings. Some are obviously styles by known painters whilst others are done by imitators/similar schools, amateurs ets etc.

don't be discouraged though

Good luck though & welcome

M

Hiya John, good to see you here.  :kissy:  (John's an old friend from the glass message board - a few others will know him from there too.)

I've a feeling we've seen this mark somewhere before and I'm racking my brain trying to think what it was....  perhaps someone else can recall seeing it too or know what it was?
Cheers!

:cheerleader: Hi there, and Welcome to the Board - jomo99  :cheerleader:

This one stumps me.  Is it incised? And by no way is it an *L* and a *I* so close together that it looks like an *U* ??

Perhaps if some powder was rubbed over it, it might help to show up the mark better.  Have you tried that jomo99?  Or try to take a picture of the bottom with a very bright light close to the bottom, as the camera then seems to pick up more than the eye sees (the reflective quality) under the glaze.  Try that and see what kind of pix you get, and then post for us..

....and again Welcome.

 Hi Peeps!!

Thought I'd found the maker of this pot  ;D, a friend suggested it could be by  Heidi Newberry, so I searched the internet and found an email addy for her, contacted her yesterday and she replied saying it WASN'T one of hers! :boohoo: However she has said she will look into it further for me, so not all bad news :)
