Topic: SylvaC copies?

These look temptingly like the SylvaC dogs, but they are unmarked on the base.  Did SylvaC always mark the bases?  I know they also used labels.  I don't think any marks have been obscured by glaze.  The larger one has its original price of 66p on which probably dates it back to the beginnings or thereabouts of decimalisation in 1971.

Could they be copies?

It says in my Sylvac book regarding number 1378, 1379 and 1380, if the mould number is missing and they have slightly different dimensions, they are fake.

The height should be either 5, 8, or 11 inches.

Fakes they are then  .  The smaller one measures 5" but the larger one is almost 7?" high.  I've now had a good look on the web for the SylvaC ones, and there are some differences, i.e. the ears and eyes.  Also the originals don't look as highly glazed, and the moulding is far crisper.  Never mind, they didn't cost a lot.  I wonder if the repros were made here or abroad...?
