Deco Looking (Funky) Bulbous Ceramic Lamp
« on: May 01, 2010, 09:10:59 PM »
Help.....very large lamp with a very nice funky looking ceramic base to it.  I am only assuming must be from around the late 60's and 70's era as a lot of lamps had the brass metal bottoms.  Also by the design, it just looks very Retro looking.  I can not find any marks, but the metal bulb holder at the top is marked Canada......but I see nothing on the ceramic part.....and not sure IF I want to try to take the base off the lamp or not.

For some funny reason, there was something about it that caught my attention -- like I had seen something like it before....

Not sure what the *animal* are/suppose to be......Cats ??

Any ideas -- and this whole lamp is large, as it comes up higher than my waist with the shade on, and the ceramic part is quite large too.

There was JUST something about it..................Hm-m-m-m-m  :-\

Help?

That is gorgeous.

Could it be from Nicaragua or maybe it is from San Ildefonso (polychrome wares), or Pueblo Indian Pottery?

I don't know much about those sort of things mind.  :new:

Took some more pics....and took apart.  See nothing on the vase, but the scrolled metal base is marked with:

 L & L
7800

And there is a price tag on it for $12.95, now whether that was for just the metal bottom -- or a price sticker for the whole vase that got hidden away underneath.....or the company cost they bought it at.

The marks of L & L  -- wonder if that same type of company about those brass Scales of Justice I had pottery here??  No further ahead, but DANG this is a big lamp..

It seems quite odd that the price of the metal base part is still on. I wonder if it was originally a vase which was then converted to a lamp.
