Okay, now i'm definelty confused about what's really, and what's not really, old Staffordshire pottery.
I think the horses i have here are fake although i'm somewhat confused by what it says in this auction...

There is a difference in that the holes in the base of mine are a lot bigger.
Next....
I bought these two small Staffordshire dogs thinking they were real but now i'm not sure after looking at the crazing. The moulds are identical but one is a different colour, i'm assuming that they are not a pair anyway. Unless this is normal?
I am so confused.

Hi there TC - Not sure if yours are real but I think on the Antique Roadshow somewhere along the line they were talking about the Dogs -- and I think they were painted in some wild colors (not wild like in Purple) but wild in the real colors of Dogs.
I wonder if the Antique Roadshow link has anything about these. I also know they *were* faked quite often too -- because they are quite seeked after...

Thanks for the link Rose, i especially enjoyed reading about the last one. I think the horses are definitely fake now, and the dogs i'm still not sure. They are quite heavy compared to the horses though.
