Teapot
« on: May 08, 2010, 05:50:07 PM »
I thought when I bought this that this mark was for Sadler but I have never been able to find a similar mark for them.

Is it recognizable to anyone else?

That mark's not shown in either Godden's British Pottery & Porcelain Marks or in Lang's Pottery & Porcelain Marks, so I'm puzzled!

Oh, and it'd more likely be a coffee pot in that shape rather than a teapot, Crispin. :)  Sadler were famous for their lovely round brown betty teapots.
Cheers!

That's the one! (My Mother is gutted as she recently dropped and broke hers and is now using a horrid stainless steel one whilst she finds a replacement she likes.)

Is the brown betty marked, Crispin?
Cheers!

Did you guys realize that the "brown betty" was no longer being made. Apparently the company has gone out of business.  :crying1:

Oh, no, no, no, no!!! In 2000 the name and business (but not the works) of Sadler was taken over by Churchill China. Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes!!!  :24:

I got the quote from Staffordshire potteries site. I think it means the original Sadler factory location.
