can anyone identify these please doultonish ?

hi all
bought these at a flea mkt but i have no idea what they are or who by. they are aprox 11 cm high by 10 cm across any help would be greatfull. there is a bit of paper stuck to the base reads , mrs briston xmas 1922 the number 592 - 2 on the base

Hi Stew, welcome to the board. My first thought was they are plant pot holders / jardinieres, but they are rather small to be that perhaps.

They could be purely ornamental - part of a three piece garniture maybe...? Or simply a pair of nice buckets for display.

Agewise, I'd have thought early part of 20th century, so the label stating Xmas 1922 would fit that but I can't suggest where they were made.

My gut is telling me continental Europe but I don't know why! and I could be well wrong. Let's hope someone else can add more for you.  :x-fingers:

Is the scene on them signed at all?  have you looked to see close up on them.  Looks like a White clay underneath??  I think they have some age to them too.  I love the art work on them too !!!

they look the same but are slightly different one has more bolder colours s o dont think they are transfers no names on them apart from the label on the base. think they are a stoneware
