Car Boot pretty Jug
« on: August 26, 2011, 08:25:44 PM »
I purchase this jug from a car-boot fair about 20 years ago. It stands about 3inch high and appears to be glazed black all over and then the outer part has been what seemingly is hand painted with flower type pattern. The mark appears to be unreadable, but its possible it says Made in England. I would be pleased to know more about it. Many Thanks

It's not very easy to see as your pics are a little on the dark side, but my initial feeling was it is a plain jug hand-decorated as a craft project. The white texture is very like the paint on glass "etching" (which is nothing like real etching is of course!) which I used on this bowl I made as a prop for a play a while ago. (It's a Pyrex mixing bowl with the painted on glass etch mixture, and translucent glass paints and stuck on glass shapes!)
Cheers!
