Antique? Lace collar
« on: January 03, 2012, 03:44:02 PM »
It's at least 7 years old since i bought it 7 years ago, lol. It's more yellow in colour than it shows in the photo, it has a little bit of damage here and there.

These used to be very popular as you could pop them onto different dresses to ring the changes. Victorian possibly TC? There's a Lace Museum in Honiton that might be able to help... http://www.honitonmuseum.co.uk/
Cheers!

I got a nice reply back from Margaret saying that it's a Bertha collar which was fashionable in the Victorian era
and revived again in the 1940s.  :)

She needs a close up photo of the item to find out a bit more, unfortunately, it's in one my boxes somewhere so will probably take some time to locate.

How lovely to get such a fast reply, TC. It'd be good to know more about it. I have some of these somewhere as well - I shall have to go rummage in my boxes! ;D
Cheers!
