Opinions on an ikebana style floral covered vase...
« on: July 18, 2012, 02:55:56 PM »
I purchased this online because I found it to be so unusual.  I don't know anything about it.  To me, it has a Japanese influence.  I would like to know what type of flower is covering the piece.  I think if it was a studio piece of pottery it would have been signed by the artist, but there are no markings.  I'm interested in any theories anyone might have.  Thanks.

I agree with you, but it must not be from Japan.
Some kind of mark will perhaps be there?

A wild guess will be Renee Kilburn, and I haven?t seen her signature att all:

You can ask her directly:

Where does the "purple bowl mark" come from that you posted?  Can you post a photo of the bowl for your mark?  Thanks!

HA!  That's funny.  I wasn't aware that it might be a mark.  I don't believe it to be.

They do look like lithops.  I've also think that it looks a bit like some type of marine life that attaches itself to rocks.  Some of the colors of those plant like creatures are similar too.
