Bangholm Keramik
« on: November 07, 2007, 06:25:28 AM »
Morning Anne and Kev, all good now.
More than I can say for Kev.. hope you are getting better!  Very gibby tummy?  When we had people on board with that, we took a coke and poured it from one glass into another, backwards and forwards until all the bubbles disappeared. Flat coke does the trick every time. It tastes quite nice too ;)

To your dish.. the word under Bangholm Keramik on the base is "ovnfast" oven-safe, so yes, a cooking dish   ;D

Quick translation from Iben Scott Lundby's website:
"Born 28.2.1955. Started her career as an apprentice in the family-run Bangholm Keramik in Ugelb?lle in 1969. Graduated as potter in 1973. From 1973 - 1990 was employed in the company as potter and painter. In 1990 she bought the company and ran it in Ugelb?lle until 1998. Tired of only doing series production, Iben decided to move the company to Ebeltoft where she opened her own shop. She now makes, with a very few exceptions, only items for sale in her own shop. This means she has time to experiment, make unique items and paint.
In 35 years as a potter, she has worked with almost all aspects of ceramics. She likes and uses natural colours in her work and employs the Raku firing technique. She has exhibited several places in Denmark."

From another page " Everything sold in her shop is produced under the company name, "Bangholm Keramik""

(Moving to Ebeltoft was probably a very shrewd move; it is an amazing place, full of  creative people, particularly glassblowers. There a fair few potters too and in the summer months the town is very busy with people coming to see the Glass Museum, the frigate " Jutland", and the lovely scenery. Lots of potential customers!!)

Hope that is helpful.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
