Presumably the mark were for identifying the decorator - is it hand-painted or transfers, Keith?

This is the second piece, 7 inches in diameter, think it's an English copy, only 2 marks to the base, an impressed one and what looks like the numbers 205 and a half followed by an arrow.

Not posted here in ages, my better half found these yesterday, here's the first, it's 5.5 inches tall, lots of wear, to me I'd say around 1900 ? and probably not English.  ;D

News / Qianlong-period Chinese vase fetches almost £1.5m
« Last post by Anne on May 18, 2022, 06:28:29 PM »
"An "extremely rare" 18th Century Chinese vase bought in the 1980s for a few hundred pounds and kept in a kitchen has sold for £1,449,000.

The 2ft (60cm) blue-glazed, silver and gilt vase was created for the court of the Qianlong Emperor.

Decorated with cranes and bats, it had been estimated to sell at auction for between £100,000-£150,000."

British & Irish / Re: Woolworths "Brocade" chintzy pattern.

I do miss Woolies.  We had a local one that seemed to sell everything and I'm not too sure why they 'disappeared' from the high streets.  May be they didn't change with the times and had to compete with IKEA and the rest.  We use to make a beeline for the pick'n'mix as it was cheaper to buy a big bag of sweets rather than buying them at the local cinema (or pictures as we called it), where they cost a lot more.

Some of the household china that they sold  is very collectable now, especially the Homemaker range designed by Enid Seeney for Ridgeways.

Using this Board / Change of theme
« Last post by Anne on December 29, 2021, 12:10:30 AM »
I've changed the look (theme) of the board to one which should work better on smaller and mobile devices. If you come across any issues with the new theme please flag them up for me to deal with, ta!
