Wooden Friar
« on: April 17, 2008, 03:58:01 PM »
Hi everybody,

I purchased this as part of a lot in an estate sale.  Its a really nice wood carving of a friar holding beer stein.  It is stamped on the bottom, but for the life of me, I cannot read it. Anybody have any knowledge of this piece?  How much is it worth?

Thanks
Cookie

I think it says handmade in German and Oberammargau. This is where the famous Passion Play is held in Bavaria, Southern Germany. Also famous for its woodcarving! Here may be a starting point.
