Cordial greetings to all
I am posting a few pictures of an old jug of mine, no mark, but I think the glaze is pretty amazing, and possibly identifiable, so would love to hear opinions - it looks a bit like a tankard at first sight, but it is a jug because it has a very small lip. The ground colour is a deep terracotta, three stilt marks on base. It is 8.5 inches high. It's English I guess, and very glossy, high fired ? The shape makes me think of around 1900 ish.but I could be quite wrong. What I like is the bottom bit has a sort of tortoiseshell effect, very dark brown over orange, but the top bit is black glaze with greenish grey flecks, that was what drew me to it, I wondered how they did that ? Gilt line between the two and on the base, and on the handle. Shape is pretty strange too, I think, a bit out of the ordinary. With best wishes, happy hunting.
