Corkboard Place-mats

Hi:
I found these hard place-mats with shows English hunting (Fox) scenes on it.  They appear to be a type of cork board.  I am not sure if they are old or not, but they do seem to have some age to them (last 30+ years).  I guess these would be reproductions (?) of some special scenes, or artist?  Anyone seen anything similar or know about these at all? 

Any help greatly appreciated.  TIA

Added:  Just found this as these appear to be the same, but still do not know much about the date of them....and I am not going to get rich, but I still like them  Click here

Could be anytime from around the last 30-40 years or even still being made, I'd think Rose, depending on how the front is made. There are some melamine ones with Herring prints here:

J F Herring, snr, was John Frederick Herring 1795-1865, who specialised in horse pictures:

Not in the same league as Stubbs but still rather good.

His hunting paintings have also been used on Spode china - it is claimed that W.T. Copeland, of Spode fame, was his benefactor:

As hunting is now banned in the UK these sorts of images are pretty much all that's left of hunting here.

This weekend I got these coasters at a garage sale that are the same thing.  Really neat.

What a coincidence; I used to have that very set of Spode plates with the Herring hunt scenes. The plates were 10" across, the print sat in the centre and the rims were very heavily and ornately gilded, very decorative. If memory serves me right there were either 6 or 8 different scenes, all named. I can't remember all of them but the 1st in the series was either 'The Meet' or 'The Gathering', and showed the hunt gathered in a courtyard having a toddy, and the final was 'The Kill', which speaks for itself. The other titles escape me, but there was another one called 'The Halloo' or 'View Halloo' and another showed a fall at a hedge. I sold them on ebay about 3 years ago, but I will hunt (see what I did there?..... ;)) through some old discs to see if I still have the pics.

I've just done a search on ebay, just putting in 'spode hunt' as a search, and there are quite a few pieces of the series (and I was quite close with some of the names, good old memory), but there are non with the ornate gilding that my old set had. Now I think about it, I recall that mine was the original, limited edition set. Not only was it very ornate and all hand-gilded, but each plate had an issue number on the reverse along with a lot of information about Herring and about each individual picture, and I'm sure that they were from a run of either 300 or 500 sets. I do know that they showed me a very handsome profit as I found them in a job-lot of display plates that I bought at a local auction of house-clearance stuff for about ?5.00. Dontcha' just love small, poorly attended auctions in small towns!! ;D

Found the old pics I was on about. The hand-gilding was even more impressive than I remembered, and it was a set of 6 with a limited run of just 300 sets. Sorry if the pic quality is poor, I was still learning to use a digital camera back then!
