It may just have had a conical metal stand or a metal handle. You might be able to find something that would look OK. Your plate was made in Burslem, Staffordshire (about 35 miles southeast of here, remember 35 miles is quite a long way in UK terms).
Your plate was made by Wood & Sons and the mark is for 1931+, so probably 1930s. The design is Deneigh, which is apparently a girls' name.
True Imari was made in Japan (but even then it is a European term), but I think the term is often (mis)used for china with a Japanese style design on it.
