Oriental rabbit with mark on base

Couldn't resist this little porcelain rabbit
. Its face looks almost human
I thought it was just a European chintz rabbit when I first spotted it (from a distance), but discovered it must be either Chinese or Japanese because of the characters printed on the base. Any ideas as to where it came from/age/maker please? The decoration is quite pretty with handpainted enamel decoration fired on.
TIA

I wasn't too sure which way up the characters should be read, so did two images.

Got it,it says....yang chong wu chen nian zhi....which means Canton,'wu chen' year made, not so good with Chinese the last two characters on the left going down are year and 'made',the dates are either 1988 or 1928,

Got furry ears, don't know about the tail and if I pat myself on the back I'll probably do myself an injury
