Delft Flower Brick

I find it hard to believe that this item (
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTIQUE-TIN-GLAZED-DELFT-FLOWER-BRICK-FROG-DECORATED-FIGURE-ENGLISH-/380377202917?pt=UK_PotteryPorcelain_Glass_PotteryPorcelain_China_SM&hash=item58903f80e5
) was actually made for sale. It is so rough and crude, surely it would not have been finished and painted? Any thoughts?
thanks

Julie, given the suggested date I'd have thought it looks right, to be honest. Very early pieces often look crude to us. I think somewhere on the board Elaine (Leni) posted some of her aunt's treasures which were similarly unsophisticated.
