Old dogs or older?

Around 4 inches high,no marks,I presume it's a Staffordshire piece  ('flatback') but can't find anything similar,is it an earlier one than the usual stuff you see?

Not seen that style before Keith, but they seem to be poodles... see here http://www.potterydogs.com/index.php?p=9&PHPSESSID=i4d05un7v5hq0s2qp7mfvtc761 and look at nos. 44 and 85...
