Wedgwood Jasper Cameo Thimbles
« on: February 02, 2012, 04:02:55 PM »
Whilst sorting out stuff here and getting rid of things (I'm in mass clearout mode!) I've found a batch of old magazines which I'd kept for patterns, recipes etc., I've realised that they have adverts in for pottery etc, so decided to scan those and record them digitally before I recycle the mags themselves.

One of the adverts is for a collection of Wedgwood Jasper Cameo Thimbles, which was introduced in 1985. The set consists of 41 thimbles, each with a cameo of a monarch. They were sold at ?12.95 each (one per month) and came with a free display stand to show them off on. The advert (it's a full page one) also says this is the first time Wedgwood had made Jasper thimbles, and that they would not be sold in shops, only via the mail order offer from the Thimble Collectors Club.

Jasperware is not, and never has been, my thing, but I wondered, just for interest, has anyone got any of these?
Cheers!

I have jasper ware but it is a) not a thimble (it's a jug) and b) not wed-g-wood, but Copeland Spode.

Would you like pictures?

And finally the makers mark on the Box and the two of them together to show you the dramatic (in my eyes) difference in the blues.

Thanks Carolyn, that's fascinating. I've not seen the Spode before and that blue is quite striking for sure. My Mum had some Wedgwood Jasperware in blue and green but thankfully it didn't come my way. :)
Cheers!

Hi there:

I have some Jasperware here made in England.  They are like the pictures plates.  I have them put away here but will *dig* them out to take a pic of them.

Anne must be house-cleaning in the Cold there....LOL....me too.

I think now would be a good time to unload these -- as with the likes of Ebay and the such, the younger people are now into vintage things more..........now where is that broom?
