Pretty wee pot from Wensleydale Pottery, Hawes, Yorkshire - Simon and Rebecca Shaw started the pottery in 1983. It stands 2½" (57mm) tall and is 3" (75mm) top diameter. Lovely clear base stamp so no doubt as to which pottery it is from. Has a horizontal slit like a smiling mouth round about a third of its girth. Lovely matt glaze in a blue colour mainly.  Wensley dale Pottery was working in 2013, I'm not sure if they still are. I will try and get over there to see when the weather improves this year (added bonus: a visit to the Wensleydale Dairy cheese shop!)

Heh heh heh Carolyn, are you a cheese addict like me?    I've now been told by other potters who make these that this wee pot is an egg separator...  there's handy...  I was thinking of using it on my desk but it is now in the kitchen awaiting the next baking session that we need to separate eggs in.

Yup, I can see that working with the slit in the side. Yes, I'm a serious cheese fanatic. And I actually quite like Wensleydale (mind you a nice sharp Cheddar or Stilton is also lovely.)
